The American Society of Hispanic Economists (ASHE) is pleased to recognize Dr. Daniel Gómez-Vásquez, Assistant Professor of Economics at the College of the Holy Cross, as the recipient of the 2025 ASHE Dissertation Award. The award recognizes a recently minted Ph.D. recipient in economics or a closely related field who shows promise of future achievement as a scholar and/or teacher and whose achievements align with the goals of ASHE.
Dr. Gómez-Vásquez received his Ph.D. in Economics from Texas A&M University in 2025. His dissertation was supported by the Russell Sage Foundation and numerous internal grants from Texas A&M University, where he also won an award as an outstanding doctoral student in behavioral economics. In his research, he employs experimental and behavioral economics methods to address questions in the economics of labor and education, ranging from hiring dynamics in multi-racial and multi-ethnic settings to strategies to support and encourage URM students in higher education.
