Job Description:
The Department of Economics seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Agricultural Economics. This position is one of six positions in a cluster hire that will have research and teaching responsibilities, along with affiliations with the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD) and the Iowa State Extension farm management team. The approximate division of responsibilities for this position is 62% extension, 25% research, 8% teaching, and 5% service. The home college for the position is the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

The individual in this position is expected to develop a nationally recognized extension and research program in the economics of agricultural production and technology with an emphasis on farm management, agricultural and bioenergy policy, and crop marketing. The extension program will be expected to address critical farm management issues relevant to Iowa and the U.S., including the economics of farm management and marketing, the financial impacts of federal and state agriculturally related policies, and the innovation of new production/marketing opportunities at the farm level. The individual will maintain one or more active projects under the auspices of the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station.

The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate across departments, extension units, and university centers. The successful candidate will be expected to generate extramural funds to support extension and research activities.
