Jason Baron is an Assistant Professor in Economics at Duke University and a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Michigan’s Ford School of Public Policy.
His research focuses on topics in child welfare, the economics of education, and public finance. He uses large datasets and quantitative methods to study how institutions such as the juvenile justice, child welfare, and public school systems can best support the lives of historically underserved children and youth. His work has been published in leading economics journals such as American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, and Journal of Public Economics. Jason’s work has also been covered by major media outlets including CNN, The New York Times, and Forbes.
